2 out of 5 stars not suitable for Nano 3rd gen   October 19, 2008

I ordered this after carefully reading all the reviews, and thanks to Amazon's efficiency received it very quickly. It has several adaptors included, but none for the 3rd generation Nano (the short square one). I rang Logitech and they recommended that I use the flat adaptor included, but with this there is still a lot of "play" so that when you touch the iPod the connections could bend and break. They also told me that there will be a suitable adaptor eventually, but they don't know when.

It is a pity, because the sound is really good. However, it is also quite heavy, although it is meant for travelling, and includes a nice travel case. But I am sending it back, as it is no good with my iPod.

4 out of 5 stars It also charges the 2nd generation i Touch!   October 9, 2008

Whilst searching for a suitable set of speakers for my 2nd generation i touch I found that unfortunately most speaker docks do not charge the new 2nd generation i touch, but this does!(some web sites say it doesnt!) The great sound and build quality of this product make it a really worthwhile purchase for this price. The speakers fill a room with sound brilliantly and far exceeded my expectations for travel speakers, I now use these for all my music listening.

5 out of 5 stars Black Magic   October 8, 2008

Thought I would leave it 6 months to write the review to give the product a thorough testing. It has been nothing short of a revelation. Even if it packed up now I have used it everyday without exception. The sound is fantastic, mobilty a real treat and range good enough to last most evenings outside. It has been chucked into my suitcase, wedged on the bath tub, dug over at the allotment and more.
Thanks Logitech

5 out of 5 stars Great product and great Amazon service   August 31, 2008

I bought a set of these having seen the reviews they've been getting both here and in What HiFi. The price has really dropped since the PureFi replacement product has gone on the market, so I figured I had nothing to lose.
The build quality is excellent, my ipod (an 80gig video classic) fits well (as does my wife's nano), and the sound quality is impressive for such a small, cheap set of speakers. A friend has the 250 Bose system and the difference in quality is much smaller than you'd expect for a 200 difference in price!
The remote control is small and simple but looks good and works well, although being shiny and black I know it won't be long before it picks up a couple of marks. The carry case fits well, although you can't fit the mains adaptor in.
One reviewer commented that when you turn up the volume on these it turns up your iPod's headphone volume at the same time (it uses the volume display), but I found that holding down the volume + and - keys at the same time for 5 secs disables this. OK, so I can't see how much I've turned them up, but I can hear how loud they are......
The 3D effect does make a difference, but for me it depends on the album playing whether this is an improvement or not.
The first charge does take the 4 and a bit hours mentioned in the manual, but is worth it to get the battery life up. You can use the dock while it's charging, so this wasn't a problem for me. The true battery life won't be seen for the first few charge / discharge cycles, and I haven't run 'em down yet, so will wait and see on this.
The first set I received had a faulty speaker, but, after completing the Amazon returns process, printing off the pre-paid label for postage, and sending them back on Friday lunchtime, I was amazed to have a replacement set arrive at 8:30 on Saturday morning! I'm struggling to think of any other firm that has such a slick returns and replacement process.
All in all 5 stars even allowing for the faulty 1st set.

4 out of 5 stars These are great   August 22, 2008

Got these due to their top reviews and have not been disappointed. A tinch more bass would have got them 5 stars, but no other speakers in this price range that I have heard come near them. Very handy for charging up the household iPods too. Slight drawbacks are they are reported as not working with newer ipods which is a shame. Also, the 'surround' button or whatever it is doesn't really improve the sound but rather distorts it slightly. These are minor niggles though for what is a great buy. Used it recently on holiday and it was perfect for background and a BBQ, though as mentioned elsewhere not really loud and bassy enough for a party, but excellent for being portable. The internal battery makes carrying it around light, and it comes with its own slim carry-case - easily slips into your suitcase. Get.
