WARNING!! Doesn't work with Windows 2000 September 19, 2007 Matthew Myatt 13 out of 17 found this review helpful
I've only just received my 80GB iPod Classic, so don't have any real feedback to leave just yet. I'm posting this to warn potential buyers that this iPod doesn't (and apparently will never) work with Windows 2000. (I've chosen the feedback score so as to leave the current average score unchanged.)
iPod classic dissapointing September 18, 2007 MrSkull (UK) 14 out of 19 found this review helpful
Before buying you should remember that the iPod classic has an additional volume limit and dodgy sound settings. The quality of the sound for the previous generation of iPods is incomparably better. The sound of the "classic" has an enhanced bass that was added within the "off" or "flat" EQ option. This was done because of the further limitation of the volume as to give the false impression of a fuller sound. However, it resulted in unwanted distortions and the impossibility of using the EQ's other settings without avoiding them. As a result, the iPod cannot deliver in the lower mid-range so the harmonics are more or less not there and the beauty of the "small sounds" that give color to the music are barely audible and again distorted slightly. Overall, it is a sad experience compared to the 5G ones so if you are a bit of an audiophile, this is definitely not for you. If you do not care so much about the bits and pieces that form a song than u can enjoy the bass and the crisp sound - for me this is not enough. The interface is also a bit clunky but I wouldn't be bothered about that as it can be sorted with a firmware update. I will now buy a 5G iPod again (which is actually more expensive than this one) and sell my classic one as soon as I can.
New to ipods September 16, 2007 Mr. D. A. Mclean (Edinburgh, Scotland) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I got the silver 80gb ipod because I simply refused to pay through the nose for an itouch! only had it for a day or so, but have to say I'm impressed so far, everything transfers incredibly quickly, videos, photo's and songs, things downloading from itunes take a matter of seconds! My music quiz does on occasion make me reset the whole thing, and i've had one or two issues with cover flow, where i've had to reset, i'm gonna play it by ear tho, if it starts to play up more, I'll send it back, and leave a review saying what happens!
The best choice to upgrade from a 30GB ipod Video September 12, 2007 Matt Smith (London) 23 out of 26 found this review helpful
The new Metal front feels lovely which makes it slightly thinner than the 30GB video, silver looks better than Black i went to see them in the apple shop Amazing value for money at 159 for 80GB of space The new menu systems are so much more pleasing to the eye including coverflow which is actually useful battery life is now extremely long Do not hesitate to buy, however: MAC USERS BEWARE - even if you have the latest itunes the ipod classic WILL NOT WORK WITH PANTHER OS X 10.3.9, neither will the new nano. You need TIGER OS X 10.4.8 as stated in the system requirements
No slip case September 11, 2007 LiteraTec (Dudley, UK) 12 out of 15 found this review helpful
Just a quick word of warning. This item does not come with the slip case that the old 80 gig models did, so if you want one, get one before leaving the shop or checking out.
