5 out of 5 stars counterbalance   September 11, 2007

Mr. Pickles below is a plant - he's just systematically trashing every ipod and praising every creative zen. An unusual consumer, that would be, buying every different color and flavour from each manufacturer. Pathetic.

Anyhow, this is just redressing the balance.

I was amazed at the size and look of this new nano (my last one's battery died) but am very frustrated because it doesn't work with my current version of i-tunes and downloading the latest version isn't working (in fact I can't access i-tunes at all now, GRRRR). So don't expect to plug and play:(

5 out of 5 stars Video - A genuine reason to buy!   September 10, 2007

Picked one of these up on the High St. today (Apple Store) & I am very impressed.
Had been holding off buying an addition/upgrade for my old 3gen Ipod which still works OK until Apple were able to offer me a reason to get another.
I wanted video playback but couldn't justify a new full size Ipod - so was delighted when video available on the new Nano.
Very small & compact - less than the size of a credit card but approx 3 times as thick.
Spilt screen / Cover Flow & Battery Life all very slick & impressive.
Only slight doubt is it worth an extra 30 for the 8gb - Maybe not I've encoded 3 full length films (using Clone DVD mobile) & have uploaded 300+ songs & still have 4gb free - How much media do you actually need for a holiday / train journey / flight etc?
Highly Recommended!!!

4 out of 5 stars A very pleasing and welcome refresh   September 9, 2007

This is the third iteration of the Nano and it adds some attractive new features, such as video playback (2" screen now), coverflow to select music and enhanced split-screen menus. It is wider but shorter than the previous generation and the screen is a higher resolution. Overall I am pleased with it but rate at 4 stars because of the absence of a technically feasible 16GB model in the range which, with the addition of video on the unit and the space that these files require, would have been useful to me.

An average mark for an average Mp3 player... Would've been vastly improved if they'd added an SD card slot a la 'New Creative ZEN' which is a much better value player in my opinion... Don't fall for the impecable marketing suckers!!
