Same problem as everyone else after 2 years... July 22, 2010 DJM66 (UK)
The unit worked well to begin with but then the strange hissing sound started on power up... and then no sound came out at all on any setting.
Looks like poor build quality. Not really on considering the price of the item.
I'll try my luck with Intempo and Amazon but not holding out much hope.
In summary; Avoid this product.
Good (for a while) July 17, 2010 P. Queripel (London) It was good for 18 months or so. Now when I turn it on or the alarm comes on, it takes a varying ,seemingly random length of time before it stops making quiet hissing & crackling noises & decides to actually play the radio. Rather annoying when you use it as an alarm clock,waking up 30-45 minutes after the time the alarm was set for. Sometimes it comes on at the right time,yesterday it didn't play at all. The alarm clock also used to randomly reset itself to midnight.
Oh, & Ipod playback suffered from drop-outs in the sound.Not a long enough life for the money
At least it still charged the Ipod
Piece of overpriced junk July 13, 2010 colin1 This is overpriced at any price, never mind the extortionate price it is.
As noted in other reviews, the shiny black surface gets fingermarked.
This is partly because there is no handle for lifting. Lifting it needs both hands for this reason.
It is very light, but bulky so needs a lot of space. I shall find space for it in my dustbin,
Also, there is no point for external aerial so reception is rubbish.
Controls are poor and non-intuitive, keep the manual handy.
Sound is lousy.
I will never buy an Intempo product again.
Neither will you if you buy this piece of junk.

Ignore the 5 star reviews! July 11, 2010 PJ I wanted an i-pod docking station and DAB radio. Not much to ask I thought, but there appears to be very little choice on the market. This fitted the bill perfectly at a great price. Good reviews on Amazon too. But I didn't read any of the bad reviews which was a big mistake. Like me, many were delighted with their purchase...until things started to go wrong. The display on my unit malfunctioned after a couple of months. I contacted intempo but got no response. Amazon were fantastic and replaced the unit quickly. This one worked well until after 4 months the DAB started to play up. I didn't bother contacting intempo this time and once again the service from amazon has been great with a full refund in super quick time.
Intempo's website says "Contact us if your product is not behaving itself and make us beg for mercy...". Don't bother. They're all talk and no action. If you want proper customer service just deal with Amazon.

Started malfunctioning about a year after I bought it and now it is completely broken. All I hear when I try and listen to the radio or ipod is a low humming sound. Seems like lots of people have had similar problems.
