4 out of 5 stars Griffin iTrip SE - FM Transmitter for iPod - Black   June 1, 2010
John Eric Jones (Wales)
Excellent item, but my only complaint is that the device does not remember the last used frequency so sometimes you have to re-tune the radio.

The transmitter is very good and has no interferance from the car radio as others do

1 out of 5 stars Often unusable   February 25, 2009

In use the transmitted volume is so low that you need the car radio on almost full volume - which becomes a real problem every two minutes or so when the unit switches itself off and you get deafened by static. The random start frequency is also inconvenient. This unit looks nice, but simply is not fit for purpose.

3 out of 5 stars Works well with my ipod touch 1st gen   February 9, 2009

I have not had the low volume problems other people have mentioned i have an ipod touch 1st gen.. I have found the sound quality and range are very good compared to my previous belkin battery powered one.

i have found a few negatives

build quality - it developed a crack and needed a bit of superglue to outer caseing coming off after moderate use.

it swiches it self off if music is particularly quite/quite recording. i have a couple of clasical sounds that it does not like.

it has an World/US Mode in US mode it rembers the last station that was tuned in however you can only move up and down the frequences in .3's ie 96.3 - 96.6 - 96.9 making it harder to find an empty station. if you put it to world mode you can set it to any frequency however it wont remember it next time its pluged in. (this has been confirmed as a "feature" by griffin support, they agreed it was stuipd)

1 out of 5 stars unusable on UK Nano 3g   August 6, 2008

I agree with the other post. This is unusable at least with my EU nano 3g. The volume is far too low because it uses the dock for audio which you cannot increase. Its not the FM signal that is faint because it tunes in fine and no hiss, just the sound is so low you have to have your radio on full to hear it. Then because of this, if you have a quiet patch of music itrip switches off because the unit thinks you are not playing anything. Then you get deafened with hiss because the itrip transmission has stopped and your radio is on full, then to make matters worse you have to retune the itrip as it doesn't remember the frequency. If you have anything other than thrash metal playing it does this every 20 seconds - completely unusable and a shame it doesn't do what it is supposed to do . Case for trade descriptions I say!
