4 out of 5 stars "no thrills" and "no non-sense" but it's not for dummies   January 3, 2009
Me (London, UK)
The good:
- Sound is fine.
- The software is basic and gets the job done.
- Great battery life.
- Super easy drag'n'drop interface (using Windows Explorer). No specialist software required. No media organizer non-sense. Just plug it into any computer and shove some files in it.
- And because of the above, can be used to carry anything, not just media.
- Comes with a very useful plug to USB adaptor so you can charge the player without using a PC/laptop.
- In one word: value. It's definitely good value.

The bad:
- The navigation is shockingly bad, if you can call it navigation at all. There's no way anyone else will be able to look through your files because they won't know how to get around it.
- Poor media organization (no playlists or such). You can only select a folder and play all songs in that folder (not including sub-folders)
- Random function has some very poor logic behind it. The player repeats songs all the time, sometimes back-to-back

Get this player if:
- You want to press play and listen to anything you have.
- You don't care about searching for tracks or listening to a specific song.
- You don't use/need playlists.
- You don't want to depend on any software (ie.: iTunes).
- You are good with gadgets and you can pick something up and figure out how to use it

DO NOT get his player if:
- You have a very large music collection and you want to group/categorize songs (ie.: playlists)
- You are not good with gadgets (or anyone else who you might share the player with)
- You ever want to find a specific song (there is no way to search for anything, you just have to go through the whole list, which isn't even in alphabetical order)

4 out of 5 stars Does what it says on the tin...   December 28, 2008

Plays the music, shows to photo's, works fine...

The menu and buttons took a little time to get used to, but now it is fine. Make sure you know how to re-size your photo's to the screen size, as they look allot better if you re-size them. Most photo programs allow you to resize. Just size them the same as the two example images on the V80.

Music is great, hooked it up to some normal PC speaker and he presto, we have our mp3's, wmv's and radio coming out in good quality.

1 out of 5 stars I have Never seen any stupid Mp3 Player as Tecknet V80   December 15, 2008

I own an Ipod Classic I bought this Tecknet for my sister I was really Impressed by the look of it so I bought it on Amazon, but when i got the item i was so devastated, it is not Mac compatible, and there is no user manual and guide and i did not find any Volume button after trying all the options for 1 hour, i have never seen any Mp3 player without volume Button, what a stupid piece of technology, this is a suggestion for Tecknet if you copy Apple in Design please copy the technology as well other wise please innovate and come up with new Idea.

I am suggesting Customer please do not just go for looks.

Looks very nice and compact, however, was unable to download anything via the USB cable as the connection was damaged internally and TeckNet put this down to user error!!

I bought this for my son, it is amazing, easy to use and with the added feature of a memory expansion slot (ipod doesn't) not got a bad thing to say about it. Perfect for people who don't want to waste money on a 'name'. I bought 3 in total for christmas, but I will be buying more and maybe one for myself!
