...because this is totally worthless. This product doesn't charge either a modern ipod classic or a 3rd generation, either with a dock or directly plugged into the bottom (even though it is advertised as universal). Judging by the reviews, this product works for roughly half of the people who bought one. Stay well clear.

When I bought this off Amazon the product details said this was compatible with all ipods. Well it doesn't work with the new Ipod Touch which has left me in the lurch just a bit! Am not impressed!

I had one of these for at least a year or two until wear and tear finally ripped the wires from the plug.
The blue light is, I find, perfectly fine even at night and provides nice, soft illumination for when I need to move around in the dark.
Bear in mind however, it does not fit nano ipods (according to other reviews), and that it is indeed not an official product so quality isnt 100% ensured, but I personally believe this charger is better than any other.
in fact, im writing this after ordering a new one just now!

I bought this for my new Nano 4G. WARNING: it does not work on the new 4G Nano ipod!!!
When you plug it in you get a message on the screen stateing that it is not compatible with this type of ipod. Even though is states clearly on the product description that it does.

I bought this charger because i have recently bought a blue version of the new ipod nano and i wanted a mains charger for it. It says it is suitable for all ipod models but when i plugged it in i got a message on my ipod saying "charging is not supported with this accessory" and the ipod would not charge. The blue light appeared on the charger but i think the problem is that it is not compatible with the newest version of the ipod nano. I emailed the seller but to be honest, the price it was i think i will just sell it to somebody i know who has an older ipod and needs a charger.
not suitable for the new ipod nano! :-( now i need to find one that is......
